Relay for Life Committee
The time is NOW to get your team gathered for the 2008 American Cancer Society Relay for Life this spring. Moapa Valleye residents can attend the Relay Kickoff meeting on Thursday evening, January 10 from 6:30 -8 pm at the Old Overton Gym. There they can count on music, contest winners, refreshments, fun and many more details on just how they can be involved in the upcoming Relay. It should be noted that the Thursday night Relay Kick Off is the last chance to sign teams up at half price registration fees.
Throughout our community we have felt the agonizing effects of cancer. We have lost family, neighbors, colleagues, employees, and customers to the disease. Already, one out of four deaths in the United States is directly related to cancer. We have watched helplessly as our loved ones and co-workers have cared for a family member or business partner whose life has been wrenched apart after a cancer diagnosis. The diagnosis may be personal, but the impact is universal.
Getting involved in Relay For Life is one way each one of us can respond positively to the impact we have felt from cancer. For years, many other local families, organizations, neighborhoods, and businesses apparently feel the same way, turning out with teams, personal luminarias, company banners and generous donations for the overnight relay. The Relay For Life event reminds us of how effective our community can be when we join for a common goal.
