Lytle Resigns From MVTAB

At a recent meeting of the Moapa Valley Town Advisory Board (MVTAB), Vice Chairman Kurt Lytle announced he was taking a new job with the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA). The job would required him to resign from the Board, he said.

At the time, Lytle expressed regret at leaving the board and expressed his appreciation for the time he has been able to work on behalf of the community.

Lytle has lived in the Valley since he moved his family here in 1996 but his father and mother are part of the Perkins family. His parents met and lived in the Valley shortly after Lytle’s father was discharged from the military. Eventually Lytle’s family moved to Southern California where he was raised.

In California, Lytle worked as a real-estate appraiser. Economic conditions in the California real-estate market led Lytle and his family to think that they might want to make a change. So they moved to the Valley where Lytle took a job as a real-estate appraiser for the Clark County Aviation Department.

“The idea had always been that our time in Nevada was going to be temporary,” Lytle said. “We didn’t sell our house in California and figured we would move back. But after a few years in the Valley our kids really loved it here and it was great to reconnect with our extended family, so we decided to stay and we have been very happy here.”

Lytle will be working with land acquisition for the pipeline that SNWA is building to Ely. “I am looking forward to the change,” Lytle said. “I’m only sorry that the SNWA felt that my serving on the Town Advisory Board was a conflict of interest because I have enjoyed my time with the Board.”

When told of the Board’s recommendation on last Wednesday night to the County Commission to fill his seat with former MTAB member Gene Houston, Lytle was pleased with the Board’s action.

“Gene is a great guy,” Lytle said. “He was on the board for many years and really knows all the issues. I respect him a lot and think he will do a great job.”

Lytle explained that his objective as a member of the Board was to be consistent in his positions. Lytle said that the community in the next few years has many major issues to face and hoped that the board would work with these challenges to make the Valley an oasis in the desert that will be a quality family friendly community.
