Members of the Moapa Valley High School (MVHS) Rodeo Club met at the Rodeo Arena at the Clark County Fairgrounds on Monday, February 18, to receive a check from Little Moapa Development Partners, LLC.  Little Moapa partners Steve Geiger and Ace Robison presented the check, for $1,000 to club president Cynthia Taylor, senior at MVHS and other officers and members of the club.

The MVHS Rodeo Club started at the beginning of the 2007—2008 school year after a 3-year hiatus due to lack of interest.  According to club advisor Mark Allen, several students approached him and other adults now working with the club asking them if they would help restart the club.  “These are a good bunch of kids,” Allen said, “they did the work to organize the club and get kids out to participate.”

Geiger explained to club members and adult advisors that Little Moapa has been working over the last three and a half years developing a project that will be called Indian Hills. It is part of the old Robison Farm in Logandale.  According to Geiger the goals of the development group is to build a neighborhood that is in keeping with the community goal to keep a rural feel in the Valley.  Therefore, they designed wide streets with ample lots where people could live and enjoy the out of doors, gardening, and raising animals.

”We have this development essentially ready to go.” Geiger said. “As soon as the real estate market turns around we will go forward and are glad to be part of this community.”

Little Moapa partner Ace Robison added, “Little Moapa Partners were looking for meaningful community groups and projects that will bring value to the community until we are able to move forward with the development.  The rodeo club came to our attention.  I know a lot of the kids involved. We heard about the enthusiasm of the kids we thought this would be a wonderful group to become involved with.”

The Moapa Valley Rodeo Club will be holding its rodeo event this weekend, February 22-23. High school students from all over the state will be coming to the Logandale fairgrounds for the competition. Tickets will be available at the gate of the Logandale Fairgrounds.
