Coming Up For Northstar Commonwealth

Moapa Valley Progress

Irene Hauver draws a winner for the local Northstar Commonwealth organization.

The NorthStar Commonwealth: A Liber Education Association has new members in its Board of Directors. Raina Stump is Chair of the organization with John Pulver serving as Vice-Chair, Irene Hauver as Mentor Representative, Nicole Trotter as Treasurer and Lyndy Omer as Secretary. John Pulver will continue to serve also as Education and Public Relations Advisor.

“NorthStar would like to thank the community for their support this year,” Pulver said. “We are continuing to draw raffle tickets and award prizes for those who helped with our fund raising, which is used by our students to defray the costs of operation.”

At a recent Board meeting in February the following names were drawn for prizes: Don Luigis and Cein Caldwell each received $50 in Gold Dollars, and Terry Angelino and F. Patterson each received Gift Cards from Lin’s Market. Winners can contact NorthStar to pick up prizes.

In addition to the regularly scheduled classes and events for this spring, NorthStar Commonwealth will be presenting Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Nights Dream” on May 30 at the Old Logandale School. Tickets will be sold during the month of May. Students of all ages will take part in the production, which will be directed by Pamela Pulver and Raina Stump, with the assistance of Brooklyn Trotter who has worked previously with Shakespeare productions in Utah. Selected scenes from the production will also be performed at the Grant Bowler Elementary School during May. The Commonwealth during this summer will also take part in a ‘Shakespeare Showdown’ on Cedar Mountain in Utah along with some Commonwealth groups from St. George and Cedar City, Utah.

Commonwealth members participate in an educational system designed to create maximum independence on the part of students in the development of their study and learning skills, while tapping into the development of their unique gifts which can be used to benefit society, Pulver said.

Later on this Spring, the NorthStar Commonwealth Student Council will be organized which aims to promote service and educational projects to be held during the remaining months of 2008 and into 2009.

Largely based upon the principles within A Thomas Jefferson Education as well as The New Commonwealth School, NorthStar Commonwealth welcomes additional families to come and find out more about our program and to discover what lies ahead for our next academic year.

For further information contact Raina Stump at 397-6377 or John Pulver at 397- 6281.
