Dads and VIPs came to Bowler Elementary School on Tuesday, April 29, to enjoy donuts and milk with that special child in their life. The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has been holding a Dads & Donuts for several years and has always had a great turnout.
Dads, uncles, grandfathers, brothers, and even a few moms show up to enjoy a morning with their special little ones at this event. A total 50 dozen donuts were made available to event attendees. Lin’s Marketplace was kind enough to donate $100 worth of donuts to help out, as they do every year.
PTA dads Joe Perez and Brian Rebman were busy making sure donuts were restocked and that the event went smoothly. After enjoying breakfast, visitors were able to join their kids on the playground for kickball or whatever activity they chose.
Dads enjoyed tether ball, kickball, basketball and hop scotch as well as the company of their children. Kids enjoyed having these guys around on the playground no matter what they were doing.
Principal Shawna Jessen commented on a change noticed on the playground that morning. “You don’t usually see things so calm out here in the morning,” she said with a smile. Looks like everybody was busy having a great time.
The PTA was also running the Spring Book Fair which gave kids to opportunity to sweet talk their dads into making a purchase.
Next year will bring another special day for dads to take some time off work and spend a special morning with their kids. In the meantime it is back to end of year fun at Bowler Elementary.
