The official ribbon cutting of the Moapa Splash Pad took place on Saturday morning under beautiful sunny skies. After four months of construction this new Moapa attraction is sure to be heavily used. Over 40 children attended the ribbon cutting and enjoyed playing in this new Moapa attraction.
County Commissioner Tom Collins was in attendance for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Moapa Town Board Chairwoman Ann Schreiber said that Collins was instrumental in getting the new facility. Schreiber went to Collins and expressed the need for a water feature in Moapa. Collins responded and made it happen, Schreiber said. “Tom has done so much for Moapa,” Schreiber said.
Also at the ribbon cutting was Clark County’s John Duly who was involved with Design and Construction of the splash pad. Collins, Schreiber, and Duly cut the ceremonial ribbon after Clark County Parks and Recreation’s John Stastny gave a quick welcome and thank you speech.
“It’s about time we got something from the County and we sure appreciate it,” stated Schreiber. Schreiber explained that with two pools in the lower valley, Moapa has been lacking a water feature for some time.
“Sorry it took so long, have fun with it!” stated Collins.

The Splash Pad has a main button that visitors can push to start the flow of water. The water will flow in four minute cycles. During the month of May the Splash Pad will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and when summer rolls around the hours will change to 9:00 a.m. through 9:00 p.m. Restrooms will be open for guests.
The Splash Pad is fun for all ages. Parents can sit on a bench or under a shade tree in the grass and relax as little ones enjoy the bucket dump, spraying cactus, magic mister, and geyser. New picnic tables are going to be installed near the Splash Pad as well.
The Splash Pad is open to the public and will not be available for rentals. The Library is closed to wet patrons so be sure to bring a towel and a change of dry clothes.
The Splash Pad is located at the Ron Lewis Memorial Park at 1340 East Highway 168 in Moapa. For more information on the Splash Park or any other Parks and Rec facility please contact the Moapa Community Center at 864-2423.
