Criminal Court was held on Wednesday, May 21, at the Moapa Valley Justice Court in Overton, Nevada.

Defendant – Lance S. Terry
Charges – Failure to Maintain Lane with Accident, Failure to Report Accident
Defendant present in court with attorney, negotiations as follows: Count one amended to Non-moving Violation, count two dismissed. Defendant ordered to pay $110 fine and assessment.

Defendant – Elizabeth Campbell
Charges – Child Abuse/Neglect, DUI
Defendant not present in court, attorney appeared in her behalf and entered not guilty plea. Preliminary Hearing and Trial set for July calendar.

Defendant – Michael J. Gerner
Charge – Obtaining False ID of Another Person 2 counts
Defendant present in court with attorney who entered not guilty plea on clients behalf. Preliminary Hearing set for July calendar.

Defendant – Daniel A. Cortez
Charges – Driving on Suspended License 3 cts, No Proof of Insurance 2 cts
Defendant present in court with attorney, case negotiated. Defendant pled guilty to one count of Driving on Suspended License, all other charges dismissed. Ordered to pay $1,132 in fines and assessments, 30 days in the CCDC to be held in abeyance for one year. Status check set for August calendar.

Defendant – Michael K. Shakespear
Charge – DUI
Defendant present in court with attorney, State did not proceed with charges due to alcohol content level under legal limit. Defendant pled guilty to lesser charge, parking ticket. Prior to court appearance defendant performed 150 hours of community service, Judge ordered no fees due because of 150 hours completed.

Defendant – Steven B. Pecsi
Charges – DUI, Open Container
Defendant present in court with attorney, guilty plea entered on count one, count two dismissed. Ordered 4 days in CCDC, two days credit for time served and two days credit in community service, 48 hours community service ordered, $695 in fines and assessments due, must attend and complete Court and State approved DUI School, attend and complete Victim Impact Panel, Coroners Program, 90 days in CCDC to be held in abeyance for one year. Status check set for August calendar.

Defendant – Michelle Black
Charge – Battery Domestic Violence
Defendant failed to appear in court, bench warrant issued, bail set $1500 cash only.

Defendant – Amador Larios-Soto
Charges – DUI, Open Container
Defendant present in court, did not understand enough of English language to proceed. Rescheduled to June calendar at which time a translator will be provided by the court.

Defendant – Richard P. O’Leary
Charge – DUI
Defendant failed to appear in court, bench warrant issued, bail set $2000 cash only.

Defendant – Debbie Pettit
Charges – Speeding, No Proof of Insurance, Resisting Arrest
Defendant present in court. Pled guilty to count one, count two dismissed, pled not guilty to count three. Count three, Resisting Arrest will be continued to October calendar. Guilty plea entered on Speeding charge, ordered $140 fine, Impulse Control Counseling and ten hours community service.

Defendant – Walter Smith
Charges – DUI 3rd Offense
Defendant failed to appear in court, bench warrant issues, bail set $15000 cash only.

Defendant – Brian Novads
Charge – Unauthorized Use of Credit Card
Defendant appear in custody. Defendant will be arranged on charged in Las Vegas Justice Court.

Defendant – Christopher Haro
Charges – Battery Domestic Violence
Pled guilty, ordered impulse control counseling, 40 hours community service and restitution to be determined. Status check set for July calendar.
