Some time ago, Code Enforcement officers came to town and found the Clark County Fair out of compliance with its signage. They then pulled down an attractive sign which was located on private property. The sign had, for many years, publicized the Fair, a source of tremendous community pride and arguably the most important event that takes place here each year. But, fortunately, the County officials left the skeleton of the old sign in its place. That made it possible for a Mesquite business to get a little free ad space on the spot instead (as seen in the above photo). While this makeshift banner, which popped up about a week ago, is somewhat less attractive than the old sign was, it does present an opportunity for us all to re-assess our skewed priorities. After all, what’s the big deal about the Fair? Pizza delivery service should certainly be of primary importance to this community; especially when it is delivered from out of town. Thanks again Clark County for straightening us all out!
