Arts Council Season Opener

The Moapa Valley Arts Council will kick off their season with a much anticipated annual event. The theme of the night is “Can’t Stop The Beat” which will feature several talented local acts. This performance will take place on Monday, September 29, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Ron Dalley Theatre which is located at Moapa Valley High School.

talented Rebekah Caldwell, the Muddy River Boys, and the MVHS Jazz Band.

Tickling the ivories will be the ever so talented duo of Hannah Sommers and Rose Whitmore. Vocals will be performed by Tony Carson, Vicki Willard, Diane Schwartz and Joyce Lyon.

The MVHS Encore Singers will be performing as will members of the Moapa Valley Community Orchestra.

“Welcome the Dawn”, a painting by local artist Nancy Glazier will be raffled off by the Moapa Valley Arts Council this year for a cost of $2 per ticket. The piece of art is is a framed 9”x12” canvas. The well loved Goldenettes are planning a return to once again show their stuff. Jessica Brandon will be clogging and Austin Leavitt and Rachle Lee will perform as a duo.

The ever favorite Moapa Valley Children’s Choir and Voicettes have a crowd pleasing favorite prepared for the audience.

Tickets for Monday’s performance will be sold at a cost of $6 for adults, $4 for Seniors and Students and $24 for a family. Season Tickets may also be purchased that evening. Season tickets holders will have an added bonus again this year of reserved seating. Tickets may be purchased ahead of time by calling Robin Maughan at 398-3655.

In addition to tickets the Arts Council will be selling raffle tickets for Nancy Glazier artwork. Glazier is a local artist that has generously provided three pieces of art.

“The Outlook”, raffle tickets will be given only to those who donate $100 or more. One ticket for each $100. “Rocky Mountain Meadow”, raffle tickets will be given to those who donate $10 – $90. One ticket for each $10. Raffle tickets for this piece can also be purchased throughout the year for $10 each. Lastly “Welcome the Dawn”, tickets may be purchased for $2 per ticket throughout the year.
