It’s At The End Of Your Sleeve

Now, not only do “we the people” not know how our government works, but we’re continuing to let those in the government lie to us, because we don’t know they’re lying. How can that be?

A few months ago, I thought I had carefully explained, in this very newspaper, how few duties are actually filled by a sitting president, and that everything else is done by the Supreme Court, the National Treasury, and the two Houses of Congress. Now, just a couple of weeks ago, the ever popular Nancy Pelosi got up and announced to all of the news media that Her President has successfully passed his 1071 page stimulus bill. This bill that nobody has read through; not the President, nor herself, nor anyone else, according to their own congressional statement. And out of all of those hundreds of reporters and allegedly intelligent people gathered there, not one of them even blinked. And I’m standing there by the radio screaming, “No! Stop saying that!”

The President did not write any of those 1071 pages. The Democrats in the House of Representatives did. Then the foxes in charge of the chicken coop, (oops, I meant the Congress in charge of our future), passed this monstrosity without any conservative support. Bipartisanship just got flushed.

Now the Treasury, which is being headed by a man who couldn’t figure out how to keep his own personal taxes current, will have their hands deep into your pockets and the pockets of your descendants for generations to come, in order to get the federal funding of practically everything, including your bank and your school and your doctor and your insurance and your auto manufacturer and on and on and I don’t see any end to it.

But the President did not do these things to us, even though he is clearly saying that he did. It was the people we voted into Congress! How can we still not know this? I’m not the brightest bulb on the tree, yet I just don’t find this concept that hard to grasp. I cannot see why we aren’t all outraged at these people who make their living by lying to us, while skillfully removing our freedoms from us!

Now that our federal people have controlling interest in several major banks, they’re trying, somewhat successfully, to do away with contract law as we know it, so that your mortgage contract won’t be worth the paper it’s printed on. That’s just wrong.

If contract law fails, we all fail. Nationalization of banks and Wall Street and auto makers and healthcare puts us well on our way down that proverbial slippery slope. These are things that are NOT constitutionally guaranteed to us as citizens. Yet this means government will own your home and your retirement and your health and soon YOU! These industries were begun and funded by private citizens like us, not by government! And over time many have failed and many have not.

To cover some of this over-spending, the top earning two-percent of our people are promised a tax-hike. This is the same two percent that now pays 80 percent of our taxes already. This is also the same people who hire you and me to go to work for them. Can they continue to afford to put us to work? Who knows.

Now to the “No earmarked and no pork” clause. What?! Without having read a contract, would you sign it? I’m just asking. Our lovely and talented president would. And did. And furthermore, he would make claims as to it’s content.

He does not know that I, standing flat footed, can name three states that have “pork” in their parts of this package without doing any research. Upstate New York has billions going there. Much of which will pay for grape DNA research. Pork. In Mississippi they have a pet project regarding the habits of the local beaver population. Billions have been spent and continue to be spent on this. Earmark. Then, bringing the problem closer to home, Reid now gets his magnetic railway to Anaheim. We can’t afford to educate our children, but we can take them quickly to Knott’s Berry Farm. These three pieces of pork alone are big enough to make an entire pig where I’m from.

We the people need to get back to the basics. Our strength is not in Big Brother, it is us individually. You need to stop long enough to remember that any really dependable helping hand that you’ve ever had, was the one that came out of the end of your own shirt sleeve.
