It was a happy day for Seniors on Monday as the new Overton Senior Center facility opened its doors. After a long wait the seniors finally have their new facility.

The new facility is breathtaking with a soothing color scheme throughout, spacious rooms and hallways, handicap accessible doors and bathrooms and bright lighting.

Approximately 125 folks gathered for lunch at the new center where they were treated to chicken and broccoli with noodles, spiced applesauce, tossed salad, whole wheat bread and cake.

The Moapa Valley Senior Center opened for business on Monday, March 23 with a lunch for the seniors. Attendees enjoyed a healthy meal and the good company of their friends and neighbors.
As the excited bunch of seniors arrived and took their seats they visited with their friends and awaited their meal. Seniors with a more difficult time walking were served first with the others taking their turn through the line until everybody was on their way to a happy and full belly.

Senior Center Director Ruth Callwell was busy buzzing around making sure that everything was just right and taken care of. She even had to run back to the old center to grab a few items that had been left behind.

The seniors were all happy and excited about the opening of their new facility with one concern, parking. Seniors expressed a concern of being ticketed for illegal parking due to the lack of ample space.
