room where they were greeted by the lead mad scientist who called herself “Dynamic Dianna”. The students listened intently as Dianna spoke and introduced each of the other mad scientists.
The different stations included experiments involving lights, colors and the rainbow, static electricity, air pressure, polymers, and dry ice mixed with the three states of matter. Students that went to the station that involved static electricity were invited to place their hands on a vortex generator. As it created static, the students hair would begin flying up all over the place. Another station had three beakers. Each beaker contained something inside of it that was either a solid, a liquid, or gas. The mad scientist showed students what happens to each form of matter when mixed with frozen carbon dioxide (dry ice). One of the mixtures the students could taste, another, they could put their ears up to it and it would sound like a volcano, and the last would make bubbles that the kids could hold and play with. “The purpose of this is to help kids have fun with science,” said Dynamic Dianna. “We want them to be educated but still to have fun.” |
