OBITUARY
David R. Wachner
David Wachner was born in Akron, Ohio on December 12, 1916 to Jacob Hugo & Dolly Richberger Wachner. His family moved first to Chicago and then to Miami Beach where he enjoyed working at his father’s beach-side restaurant. After experiencing a deadly hurricane, he and his family moved to Los Angeles, where his father passed away in 1929 when David was just 12 years old. This loss continued to linger with him throughout his life.
He lived in Los Angeles for 30 years where he was active in both high school and college activities. He attended 3 years of college at UCLA. During WWII, he worked at Lockheed.
In 1949, he married Barbara Hathaway and they had two children: Diana Shoshana and Yankov. In 1956 they moved to a home in Santa Barbara, CA.
After his diovorce in 1976 he married Barbara Norris and together they moved to the Old School Houise in Kanosh, UT in 1979. He enjoyed collecting books and magazines. Ending up with a huge collection in Kanosh, UT. He enjoyed watching old movies and the news. He always was up on current events.
While there he met a special family, the Smiths. In 2004, he joined the Smiths in Overton, NV. They always treated him with a gread deal of love and made it possible for him to continue to live independently. Whenever he spoke to his own children, he would comment on the current activities of Roland and Tammy Smith and their children.
He enjoyed volunteering at the Moapa Valley library as well as the small library at the local senior center.
He remained with the Smiths in Overton until he became ill recently. He passed away on May 3, 2009. Now, after almost 80 years, David will be able to be with his dad again. David is survived by his children Diana Shoshana Wachner of San Francisco, CA., Yaakov (Judith) Wachner of Los Angeles, CA and step children June & Holly. He is preceded by his wife Barbara Jane Wachner and parents Jacob Hugo and Dolly Wachner. Graviside services were held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Kanosh Cemetery in Kanosh, UT.
