OBITUARY
John Mansfield, Sr.
John Robert Mansfield, Sr., age 83, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Perry Point VA Hospital in Perry Point, Maryland. He was born March 2, 1926 to Raymond Hayes and Frieda Nottelmann in Redding, California. On August 7, 1965 he married Inga Winsor in Las Vegas, Nevada. She preceded him in death on December 30, 1985.
John grew up in Redding. He served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. In 1971, he settled in Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked in the Teamsters Local 631 Union. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. For the last seven years, he has lived with his son in Maryland.
Survivors include his son, John Jr. (Elizabeth) of North Potomac, MD; his daughter, Frieda (Larson) Caldwell of Sammamish, WA and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond of Anderson, CA and one sister, Louise Thomas of Redding, CA.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Mountain Vista LDS Chapel, 1775 Christy Lane, Las Vegas, Nevada. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow at 7 p.m. at the Logandale Cemetery, Logandale, Nevada under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary, 702-398-3600.
