Actions Speak Louder Than Words
To the Editor:
As I’ve watched a series of political issues go back and forth between the county representatives, town board and the people; I have to ask, is this not America home of the free? Where have our political boundaries gone? Why, when the people speak, are they not the majority decisionmakers? When a vote is heard, why is it not immediately for the people? Is this America, a kingship, communism or socialism?

I am for keeping my freedom and the basis our country was founded on; the right to have a voice or a vote; upholding the constitution without loopholes to fit a small minority’s agenda.

One man should not have the right to make decisions for the majority of a community. Leaders should not be assuming they know what is best for everyone else and then forcing that idea. This is not what being an American is about.

I think people in this community for the most part, live here for similar reasons.: concern for freedom, support for freedom of religious beliefs, small town atmosphere and just wanting to be around good people. Are our leaders supporting these values?

Actions speak loud about a leaders character. I am fairly accepting of people and their characters. However, when a person’s actions threaten my freedom, my right to vote, I’d have to be a fool to trust or support that person’s political or personal agenda again.

Are you for the people Commissioner Collins? People can see right through a political reply or defense. American slang would label it a “bunch of baloney”. So let’s be honest.

Mr. Collins should show us that “the majority” counts. Does he uphold the constitution and is he for the people? Yes our land boundaries do matter. And, among other subjects, the majority vote does and should be the deciding factor.

Our elected official should have faith in the people of the community and should let us exercise our American right and let the majority vote rule.

I hope that I will be proven wrong about the picture of Mr. Collins’ character that I am seeing. Actions speak louder than words. Let’s see some actions that support our American heritage. Let freedom ring! Power to the people! Let our voices be heard. There are hundreds of way to say it. I am proud to be an American.

To 6th Grade Girls And Their Parents
To the Editor:
On Wednesday, May 20, the Mack Lyon Middle School generously let the sixth grade class travel to the Mesquite Rec. Center. During the field trip some 6th grade girl(s) vandalized the girls bathroom at the Rec Center. Now the 6th grade picnic, which would have taken place on Friday, May 29, has been canceled in until the guilty party fesses up.

The picnic was going to have hot dogs and soda, and a watergun fight.

Please, if you did it, fess up! EVERYONE has been really looking forward to it, especially me. It’s not just for me, it’s for everyone. So, please, FESS UP!

Parents, please talk to your daughters about this incident, if they are in sixth grade and even went to the field trip. Boys had nothing to do with this at all.
