have made, artworks with construction paper and poster boards all centered around the chosen country. Some kids construct homes out of sugar cubes and some kids even gather money from other countries to put on display.
On Wednesday, May 27, the students put on a program which parents and fellow students had the opportunity to enjoy. Music teacher Trish Anderson assembled an amazing program. “The kids worked really hard and did a great job!” stated Anderson. Students arrived dressed in clothing typifying their chosen countries which made for a colorful presentation. The theme of the program was entitled, “Children of the World”. The students performed a number of finely tuned dances and songs. Included were tunes from Thailand, Ghana, Trinidad/Tabago, and China. Dances performed were from Germany, Ireland, Mexico, Russia, and a USA line dance to “I Love A Rainy Night”. On Thursday the students filled the halls of the school with tables of displays. Each student sat with their display as students and parents visited and asked plenty of questions. When asked what the most interesting thing learned about their country, the students gave some interesting answers. Cameron Larsen wrote his report on Spain, he stated that there are over 100 square yards of olive trees in Spain. Larsen Love wrote his report on Latvia and said that all of the water in Latvia is polluted other than the Baltic Sea. He explained that they have to have water from the Baltic Sea filtered and treated in order to have drinking water. |
