| Charles (Charlie) Lee Johnson | ||
| Charlie Johnson, age 74, died on Thursday, July 9th in Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas. Verda, his wife for 53 years, was at his side. Charlie married his high school sweetheart, Verda Johnston , after serving three years in the Army with time spent overseas in Korea during the war. Charlie was born in Denver, Colorado but grew up, married and raised a family in Omaha, Nebraska. Charlie retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 35 years and had a second career as a Quality Assurance Consultant for eight years. Charlie and Verda built a home in Logandale, Nevada in 2001. Charlie enjoyed boating on Lake Mead and riding ATVs in the desert. He and Verda belong to an ATV group on Mesquite, Nevada. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren or working in his shop. |  |

| Maurine raised their family in Logan, Utah; Columbia, Missouri and for many years in East Lansing, Michigan. They spent two years in Belize on assignment from the United States Agency for International Development and traveled the world in support of Sylvan’s professional responsibilities. In 1996, they established a home in Logandale, Nevada.
Charlie was very skilled and made many pieces of furniture that are treasured by his family. Survivors include his wife Verda, 4 sons and 2 daughters; Charles P. Johnson of Fort Dodge, IA; Lisa Stewart of Montrose, CO; Michael Johnson of Omaha, NE; Chris Johnson of Omaha, NE; Kelly Taylor of Montrose, CO; and John Johnson of Fallon, NV; 15 grandchildren, 1 brother, and 3 sisters. A Memorial service was held at the Johnson residence and another Memorial service will be held in Omaha, Nebraska. The family asks that any donations be sent to Cappalappa Family Resource Center, 261 S. Jones Street, Overton, NV. |
