Mesa View Regional Hospital (MVRH) in Mesquite, Nevada celebrated turning 5 years old last week. The week was full of community related festivities to commemorate the anniversary.

Monday evening, July 13, a birthday party was held for children that have been born at MVRH and their families. Nearly 300 people were in attendance. About 100 of these were children who were born at the facility.

Those in attendance enjoyed a wonderfully decorated lobby full of balloons and fun. Children played carnival games, enjoyed cup cakes and ice cream and even received a small gift to take home.

During the birthday party the children took part in making two banners to thank local police and fireman for all of their hard work in the community. The children dipped their hands and some feet in white paint and left their mark on the banners to say thanks.

Also beginning on Monday was the week long Mesquite Scavenger Hunt. Those interested in participating picked up a clue card which they had to take around to certain businesses for verification. Once the card was full participants returned it to the front desk at MVRH to receive a gift and to have their name placed into a drawing for one of many great prizes. The Scavenger Hunt concluded on Friday afternoon at which time drawing winners were announced.

On Wednesday a Community Pancake Breakfast was held beginning bright and early at 6:00 a.m. The kitchen was busy as early as 5:00 a.m. cooking up a delicious egg casserole and too many pancakes to count. This breakfast was designed to honor police and firefighters, many of which were in attendance at the breakfast.

Attendees were greeted by hospital administration and employees who were sporting their new blue MVRH Anniversary Shirts decorated with five birthday candles sticking out from the hospital logo.

On Thursday a Drive-through Ice Cream Social was held in the afternoon. Armed with large coolers full of ice cream bars hospital staff distributed cool treats to community members who stopped by. Attendees were also welcome to come inside for an ice cream sundae if they preferred.

MVRH first opened its doors on July 13, 2004 and has treated nearly 36,000 emergency room patients, performed roughly 4,000 surgeries and delivered nearly 800 babies since then. The facility continues to receive high ratings in patient satisfaction as well as employee satisfaction within its parent company consisting of 120 hospitals.
