The Moapa Recreation Center is the place to be for Moapa residents this summer. Clark County Parks and Recreation is offering up a variety of fun activities for kids as part of the Summer Rec Program. Moapa program coordinator Gail Lindsay not only plans out the great activities but is usually found playing right along with the kids.

Mondays are a tasty treat with the Beginning and Basic Cooking Class.

Ready, Set, Go…. Kids prepare to demolish one another during a game of Medic Ball during a day at the Moapa Recreation Center.
Kids ages 6 – 12 are able to join in the fun while learning how to cook up a few fun treats. Monday evenings are open to families from 6 – 8 p.m. Families are encouraged to join in the fun of the activity of their choice.

Tuesdays are the Youth Sports Camp days. Kids ages 6 – 12 can attend this camp which provides a variety of different sports.

Wednesdays start with the Beginning Guitar lessons for kids. Beginning Crochet and Knitting classes are also offered as well as Rhythm and Dance class. Finally on Thursday the crafty kids have the opportunity to participate in the Craft Club.

Fun Factor takes place every Monday – Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Fun Factor is for kids ages 6 – 12, and includes supervised open play time where balls and games are provided. “We have a great small group of kids that attend each day”stated Lindsay. Kids also enjoy a trip outside after lunch every day to enjoy the water pad during these hot summer days.

Lindsay has volunteer helper Cindy Soderquist who also brings along her kids to enjoy the days of play. Soderquist gets right out there with the kids and have plenty of fun. Another helper is young Kelsey Paice. Paice serves as a Leader of the Future (LOTF). LOTF kids work with the smaller kids and assist the adult leaders.
