“The kids look forward to it every year,” said Deborah. “This year was a little complicated due to school starting here in the valley the same week the fair was held up North.”
Josie Henrie took a steer weighing in at 1365 lbs. She won first place in Showmanship for her division and then returned to win Grand Champion. Makayla Henrie took a lamb weighing in at 138 lbs and won second place in her division for Showmanship and came in fifth overall in market! Alex Jones took a lamb weighing in at 148 lbs. and won first place in Showmanship in her division and also returned to win Grand Champion! “This is a great accomplishment in itself, but to travel 500 miles and still have an animal in top show and market condition is almost impossible,” the show’s auctioneer commented. “I know from a parents stand point that my daughter, Alex, could not do what she does without great 4-H leaders like Deborah and Nathan Henrie or the help of Cindy Shakespear,” said Michelle Jones. “These 3 people put in countless hours to the local youth in our valley and are greatly appreciated by the parents.” |
