Students Clown Around At Perkins

The Ute V. Perkins Elementary School was full of clowns on Tuesday, October 13. The school’s Student Council hosted its first spirit day of the school year: “Clown Day.” Students and teachers were encouraged to come to school dressed as clowns. About 35 students and staff came dressed as clowns.

spirit day that was different. Clown Day was schedule to coincide with the Clark County School Districts “College Day.” Students across Clark County where encouraged to were their favorite college apparel.

This year Perkins Student Council is made up of 2 third graders, 2 fourth graders and 2 fifth graders. The students who where interested in running for student council had to submit an essay explaining why they wanted to be on the student council. Then a team of teachers reviewed the essay and looked at the student’s academics and the citizenship history to select the members. The student council members are: third graders, Hannah Leavitt and Averee Widdison; fourth graders, Lily Leavitt and Sarah Udall; and fifth graders, Sadie Johnson and Abriel Leavitt.
