During the event contact was made with Scouts in British Columbia and Pennsylvania, and other contacts were made to Wyoming, Illinois and England.
Club members explained the wide ranging facets of the radio hobby and emphasized that Amateur Radio exists to serve the public during times of emergencies and disaster, where other means of communication may fail. Scouts were also treated to a barbecue lunch during the event, and were offered a tour of the fire station facilities from radio club members who are also part of Station 73. The Moapa Valley Radio Club hopes to hold a similar event next year. The club wishes to thank its members who set up for the event, and the gracious assistance of Fire Station 73 in offering the facility for their use. |
