Successful Gymkhana
To the Editor:
As we come to the end of another Gymkhana year I would like to send a special thanks to Anita Shanahan. Many people forget how much she does for us in running this event.

The people who complain about things to her need to realize how wonderful this Gymkhana is. I moved here a year ago so my daughter would have this event to participate in.

Where we lived before Gymkhana dwindled to nothing. Not to mention the ones they had were horrible. The president wouldn’t even show up to cancel an event. We would just be left sitting at the arena wondering. Prizes were never bought. Money was just passed out with no ribbons or awards. The worst thing experienced was impatient drunks who shouted obscenities at friends and family as they blessed an injured little cowboy in the arena while waiting for an ambulance.

So the next time folks have a complaint about this Gymkhana they should think a little. Could you volunteer to possibly help solve the problem? Contribute money so she has less to worry about at prize time?

Just remember this. Win or lose you have a great Gymkhana to ride in.

Thank you Anita, Candice and any one else who has made this a fun event!

To the Editor:
I would like to express thanks to the Clark County Parks and Rec for an outstanding activity at the fairgrounds on Halloween night. It was fun, safe, and had something for everyone of all ages. Thank you also to the volunteers who provided trunks to treat. I hope this event continues. It served the entire community well.

Another expression of gratitude goes out to all of our veteran’s. Veteran’s Day is a day to remember those who have served our great nation. Even in difficult times, we still live in the greatest nation on earth. The level of freedom we enjoy is in large part due to these great men and women who have served with honor and dignity to preserve it. Take a moment to thank them.

Character & Sportsmanship Still Alive
To the Editor:
As a side note and possibly the most important and newsworthy happening in the VVHS vs. MVHS girls soccer match: With the score at 4-1 with VVHS in the lead, Alex Zarndt (VVHS) placed a beautiful shot into the Moapa goal. The ball passed through the inside of the net. When the Referee called a goal kick for Moapa a minor discussion ensued between the Referee, a VVHS Captain and the VVHS coaching staff. The Referee then walked over to the Moapa goalie (Kim Sprague) and asked if the ball entered the goal, she looked him square in the eye and said “Yes, sir it did.”

Character and Sportsmanship are alive and well. At least on the soccer field in Moapa today.

Thank you Kim for your honesty and integrity! In the heated rivalry that is VVHS vs. MVHS that could not have been easy! I hope that our teams and players would do the same!
