Moapa Valley Progress
Published July 1, 2009

A representative from the Middle East Conflicts War Memorial will be sharing information during the community 4th of July Celebration at the Clark County Fairgrounds.

The Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial is located in Marseilles, Illinois. It was dedicated there in 2004 and is the first war memorial in the U.S. to be built while the conflict is still ongoing. It was built with $2 million of private funds provided by tradespeople and individuals.

Robert Kuczera, brother of one of the original founders of this memorial, will be distributing information at a booth during the 4th of July festivities. The booth will feature a documentary about the memorial, fun games and prizes for kids and lots of information about the memorial.

"I really want to educate people about this memorial, it's a really amazing thing that regular people have done to honor those who have died in the conflicts in the East," Kuczera said.

Kuczera noted that last month the memorial added nearly 400 names to the list making a total of 6,400 names of soldiers included. To learn more about this memorial visit Kuczera at the Fairgrounds this Saturday, or go to www.ilfreedomrun.org.
