Fans of the "Twilight" series line up outside Pioneer Theater last Tuesday night for the premiere midnight showing of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse."

Local “Twihards” lined up outside the Pioneer Theater in Overton on Tuesday night, June 29, for the premiere midnight showing of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.”

Those lucky enough to be first in line showed up to the theater around 9:30 p.m. and waited patiently for the doors to open. When the doors opened at 11:00, a long line of excited fans including tweens, teens, “Twi-moms” and everyone else, wrapped around the building. The movie began promptly at 12:01 a.m. and all but about a dozen seats were filled.

“Eclipse” is the third and latest installment in the “Twilight” saga. The “Twilight” films are based on the novels of the wildly popular series by author Stephenie Meyer.

Set in Forks, Washington, the film centers around the love triangle of the awkward human Bella Swan, the mysterious vampire Edward Cullen and the hunky werewolf Jacob Black. The Cullens, a family of friendly, vegetarian vampires and the werewolves of the strong and proud Quileute tribe must put aside their differences as they work together to protect Bella from a growing army of new and violent vampires.

Fifteen-year old Hannah Kelley of Logandale was one of many local teenagers that attended the “Eclipse” premiere. Kelley has read all of the “Twilight” books numerous times and enjoyed the movie. “It went off on the plot a couple times, but it was actually a really good movie,” she said.

“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” will be shown at the Pioneer Theater through July 22.

The final installment of the Twilight franchise, “Breaking Dawn,” will be released as two separate movies, with the first one scheduled to hit theaters in November of 2011.
