The high energy Christian youth music group, The CONTINENTALS, will be performing in Overton once again on Friday night. Performing with them will be Moapa Valley High School student Rebekah Caldwell, 16.
Caldwell has been on tour with the group for the past six weeks. The tour began in early July in Ventura, California. The group spent a week there in rehearsal camp, where they went through rigorous training for the performance schedule which was to come. Then they set off on a journey which would take them through Las Vegas but then on across the country to places like South Dakota, Missouri, Florida and many places in between.
The six week tour included 51 concerts played in various churches along the way. At each stop, the group split up and stayed the night at the homes of church member host families in the local area.
The highlight of the trip was an eight day stay at the island of Barbados in the Carribbean. There the group performed its show each night and did other ministry work during the day.
This was Caldwell’s second performing arts tour with the Continentals group. In her previous experience she performed with the Young Continentals group which includes high school age youngsters from 12-17. This year she auditioned for the Continentals group which includes performers ages 18-24. And though Caldwell is only 16 years old, she made it into the older group.
The Continentals will start to wrap up their six week tour with a performance here in Overton on Friday, August 6 beginning at 7:00 p.m. The performance will be held in the Calvary Community Church at 210 N. Anderson Street in Overton. All are welcome.
