Calvary Community Church was a-rockin’ and a-rollin’ for almost two hours Friday night as the Continental Voices and Brass tour group performed for a full house. Children were dancing in the aisles along to the music, while the rest of the audience was moving to the music in the pews.

The Voices and Brass group included local teen Rebekah Caldwell, who has performed with the Young Continentals in the past. This year she decided to step up her game and auditioned for the Voices and Brass group, who normally doesn’t accept members younger than 18. Rebekah is 16 years old.

The Continentals are made up of several different tour groups that travel the United States and the world spreading the Christian message through music.

This year marks the seventh year a Continentals group has performed at Calvary Community Church.
The Voices and Brass group began in California six weeks ago with an eight day rehearsal camp, then traveled across the United States to Florida, performing along the way. From Florida the group flew to Barbados to perform, then back to the United States to conclude their tour.

The Continentals were formed in 1967 as a non-profit, inter-denominational ministry to spread their message through music. The Continentals World-Wide Ministry has grown to include over 45,000 people and performs 1500 concerts per year.

The Continentals Voice and Brass group performed a wide variety of songs, including Christian rock, country, and hymns. One of the favorites with the audience was an upbeat version of The Doobie Brothers “Jesus is Just Alright with Me” entitled “Jesus is STILL Alright with Me”.

After Friday’s concert, the Continentals had three more performances in California before they wrapped up and headed home on Monday morning.
