Calvary Community Church held its annual Vacation Bible School last week. SonQuest Rainforest was the weeklong adventure for local children to gather and learn about Jesus through bible stories and parables.

At the beginning of each day’s adventures, the kids watched a video skit set in the rainforest. The video introduced the day’s theme, as well as a daily song, and a sign-language based dance.
Each day the children participated in different stations, including a story station, a craft station, a game station, and a snack station.

Calvary’s VBS director this year was Susie Jobst. Jobst planned the entire event before her family decided to move out of state.

Clint Brill entertains the kids during story time at the Calvary Community Church Vacation Bible School held last week.

Many adults stepped up to help put Jobst’s plan into action, including Pastor Jason Ham, Kimberly Abbott, Linda Rockenbach, Clint Brill, and more.

About 60 kids registered for the event. The kids were placed into Rainforest Adventure teams, sporting such names as Toucans, Orangutans, and the Jaguars. The church was decorated with a rainforest theme, and the stage sported a full-size waterfall!

Each day the children donated coins that were sent to Samaritan’s Purse for Christmas Boxes all over the world. The Christmas Box is a shoe size box filled with a variety of different gifts such as something to wear, something to love, something to play with, something special, and something for personal hygiene.

At the end of the camp, parents and kids had snack time together while watching a movie featuring the kids participating in all the activities during the week. The children also performed the songs and dances they learned throughout the week for their parents.
