I’m curious about the Commissioners comments, about the straw poll being nothing more than a popularity contest. Other than the fact that the law does not require the commissioner to appoint the winners; how are the results of the straw poll any different from those of a general election? These commissioners are only seated because they were the most popular, the most vigorous campaigners, the candidate who could raise the most campaign financing, or the one who was able to sue to eliminate an opponent they had no chance to beat otherwise. There are no guarantees in any election that the candidate best able to serve will be the candidate best able to win. These commissioners are the perfect example.
