The New Hope Christian Center in Overton will be sponsoring the Financial Peace University course by best selling author and financial counselor Dave Ramsey. The DVD based course will be given over a 13 week period beginning on Wednesday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m.
Dave Ramsey is a recognized expert in the field of personal finances. He appears on Fox TV and is heard on talk radio as well as in print. Ramsey has helped guide many people through a maze of mortgages, investing, unemployment and debt elimination.
New Hope’s pastor Russ Goodrum said that he feels the course is a timely message for his church members as well as the whole community. “We have seen the economy worsen significantly in recent years,” Goodrum said. “We’ve seen a large number of people in church, and in general, who need help managing their finances; their debt or mortgage problems. So we decided to bring this to the valley and we hope that people will make use of it.”
The church has purchased a non-profit membership to the Financial Peace University. That means that the program can be offered to the local community at a sharply discounted rate, Goodrum said.
Everyone is welcome to attend the free opening class on September 15, Goodrum said.
