OPEN FORUM: Obamanites

By Esther Ramos

I think I’ll coin this word here and now. The Obamanites do a long list of things that get on my nerves. Their inability to break out of the lock-step behind our current president just baffles me. Such an exaggerated fear of being thought of as racist is beyond my comprehension.

You don’t have time for me to cover all of my peeves in regard to these Obamanites, so I’ll review a real dangerous one.

Question: How can it be, that most of the top folks of our present administration, are either unable or unwilling to understand the process of, and the need for, the art of good negotiating? Not giving away the farm without a fight.

For instance, the Obamanites think the previous administration didn’t go far enough with negotiations on subjects likes weapons of mass destruction. They want us to hold our national olive branches out to countries like North Korea and Iran and other fear-driven peoples hoping they will suddenly go contrary to their engrained policies, and enter into meaningful negotiations with each other and with us. This reflects a lack of historic knowledge, on the part of our present regime. In fact, our prior leaders negotiated directly and indirectly with Iran and North Korea and Iraq, etc. for years and years.

Even worse, it shows a deep misunderstanding of the word “negotiation.” It is not a policy. It is a technique; a way of getting what we need. The Obamanites believe getting people “to the table” is an end in itself, further reflecting their shallowness in understanding international affairs.

The Obamanites seem unruffled that North Korea continues to launch ballistic missiles and to conduct nuclear tests. Korea’s jailing of American journalists doesn’t seem to bother them much either.

These countries’ leaders will continue in this same vein of disregarding agreements, because they didn’t notice when Obama pushed the “reset” button when he took over from Bush. They will not leave their nukes behind, as they find them to be a trump card against us and Japan and South Korea and whoever else comes along. It’s definitely to Iran’s and North Korea’s advantage to “negotiate” over and over, as this continues to garner for them more economic and political concessions and will remove them, temporarily, from front page news.

This is the same for all of the terror-driven groups that spring up against us. It buys them time and space to agree to “talk”. But it doesn’t reduce their threat to the rest of us. And, oddly enough, this never makes me feel any safer. How about you? No? But for the Obamanites these talks are as effective as resolving the problems would be. It fills their agenda.

Disgusting, wouldn’t you say?
