A familiar face has returned to Grant Bowler Elementary school. Assistant Principal Pledger Solomon will return to the school for three days a week. Because of education funding issues Solomon had been reassigned to Las Vegas schools this year. Of the experience, he said that he learned a lot and enjoyed the experience but it will be nice to be back at Bowler.
“I’m very excited to be back and see all the familiar faces,” Solomon said. “I missed the wonderful staff here and it will be great to work with (school principal) Mrs. Jessen again.”
“We are thrilled to have him back,” said Jessen. “We will put his services to good use and it’s nice to have him already know what needs to be done.”
Since the beginning of the year, the school has been sharing an assistant principal with Virgin Valley Elementary for only two days a week. Solomon will also be a part-time Assistant Principal at the school but will increase the school’s coverage to three days a week.
Solomon’s return was funded by a federal grant awarded to the school district. This 54 million dollar education job fund was granted to the district in order to return administrators cut earlier in the year because of lower student enrollment. The money will also be used to fill classes back up with permanent teachers and return staffing to 100%.
“For the first time since I’ve been a principal, I will have 100% staffing and an extra seven hours of support staff,” Jessen said. “That is a huge relief. It’s going to be wonderful.”
Solomon will be splitting his time between Grant Bowler and Joseph Bowler Elementary School in Bunkerville.
