For over 24 hours, 34 scrapbook enthusiasts came together at the Old Overton Gym on Oct. 8-9 to cut, paste, design and share their love of creating memories. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #75 in Logandale under the direction of scrapbook/crop coordinator, Susie Fly, sponsored the 8th Bi-Annual Crop Till You Drop Party.
Many of these hardy individuals stayed overnight in order to be a part of this Scrap-a-thon. The vendors Teri Schoeni (“Heart to Home”) and Sandra Benson (“3 Peas In A Pod”) of Las Vegas and Bea Redd (“Stampin’ Up” Demonstrator) of Logandale eagerly shared the many aids that are available – from clear mount stamps to slim line punches to pebbles to cricut die cut machines to stickles. In addition to offering these latest and newest accessories, these ladies offered workshops not only at this party, but in their homes as well.
Scrapbooking has taken on a new dimension with paper craft projects. These include charming memory booklets, hand sewn flowers, wall hangings and greeting cards.
Many of those present had begun scrapbooking when they started their families and were now building these books for their grandchildren. As I wandered about talking to the ladies present gathering pertinent data on how to get started in this craft, it was obvious they enjoyed these sessions and the opportunity to meet with other enthusiasts who become friends. This is a sharing of not only artistic ideas, but is also a healing hobby for those in attendance.
