This is an open letter to Tom Collins, Commissioner, Logandale, Nevada. I am responding in reference to your letter to the Elko Daily Free Press Editor September 29, 2010 (and Moapa Valley Progress Editor, October 6, 2010) publication.
I, like you, look for the good in our political candidates. You have found good in Senator Reid’s influence for things you are interested in. To me, activities he supports with his influence have brought increased financial obligations to this nation and Nevadans.
Senator Reid “stopped the Yucca Mountain nuclear dump site and brought renewable energy to Nevada”. Your printed words show you have bought into the “dump” phrase. Senator Reid should have promoted the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Repository. The potential for expanded jobs, tax and education base for Nevadans is compromised. Consider clean nuclear energy that doesn’t compromise the beautiful Nevada landscape from wind turbines, idle or not.
New opportunities for Nevadans current and future will be better served by not re-electing Harry Reid.
I for one have cast my last vote for Senator Reid.
