The Yamashita bridge was closed Monday and Tuesday last week while work was done to install pipeline down Moapa Valley Boulevard. The bridge was actually scheduled to be closed Wednesday as well, but Las Vegas Paving was able to complete the work a day early, allowing the bridge to open Tuesday evening.
When completed, the pipeline will span over four miles along Moapa Valley Boulevard from downtown Overton to Lyman Road in Logandale.
Representatives of the Clark County Water Reclamation District (CCWRD) were in attendance at the Moapa Valley Town Advisory Board on Wednesday, October 13 to give a report on the project.
The pipeline installation is expected to be completed at some time in late January or early February 2011, according to CCWRD engineer Tim Echeverria. The final open grade paving on the highway will be completed later in the spring, when temperatures have warmed up, he said.
Concerns were expressed about having the downtown Overton area cleaned up and ready in time for the upcoming Veterans Day Parade on November 11. Echeverria said that the contractor was working in coordination with the American Legion, the organization that sponsor the parade. “We expect to have things cleaned up and out of the way in time for the parade,” he said.
