Native American Day To Return To Lost City Museum

Southern Paiutes from the Moapa area and other Native Americans will share their culture at Native American Day held at the Lost City Museum on Saturday, October 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m..

The event will begin with a pottery workshop at 10:00 a.m. open to the public and continuing through the morning. At 2:00 p.m. a special guest speaker, Dr. Jerry Brody will give a presentation. Dr. Brody is the former director of the Maxwell Museum in New Mexico and an expert on Mimbres pottery.

Native American artisans will demonstrate a variety of traditional skills including flint knapping, beading, jewelry making and more

Live performances by Native American dancers, including The McCabe Family Indian Dancers will be displayed for the museum attending public.

The event will also feature drumming presentations by Julie Smith, appearances by St. John’s Ballet Folklorico and delicious food for sale.

“Everyone is encouraged to attend this unique cultural event,” said museum attendant Jesse Davie.

The Lost City Museum is open Thursday through Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Regular admission charge is $5.00 for adults, Children under 18 and members enter free. For more information, call the museum at (702) 397-2193.
