OBITUARY: Ron Olson

Ronald Doyle Olson, age 65, passed away on October 14, 2010 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 21, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah as the second child of Doyle Herman and Irene Carrico Olson. Ron graduated from South High School, where he excelled in Math and Science. He later attended the University of Utah prior to serving a two year mission to the Great Lakes for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After his mission Ron joined the US Air Force where he served for 7 years and went to school studying electrical engineering.

He married Connie Ann Hymas on August 8, 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 7 children together. Ron and Connie lived in various parts of Wyoming for 16 years prior to moving to Logandale, Nevada where their children all attended high school.

Ron was a jack of all trades. He loved being an electrical engineer until his liver transplant in 1996. Ron was then forced to take an office job as a very successful loan officer. Ron served as a Bishop in the LDS Church for years while living in Wyoming and held other various callings. His favorite calling was working in the ‘children’s nursery’ where his incredible patience was used. Ron loved everything in the outdoors including hunting, shooting and fishing. He loved camping in the mountains with his family but he always had a special place in his heart for Yellowstone where he often spent summers as a child.

He is survived by two sons: Patrick of Las Vegas, NV, Jarom of St George, UT; five daughters: Tiffannie (Brian) Schofield of Cedar Hills, UT, Mistilinn (Richard) Bowler of Bunkerville, NV, Carismin Olson of St. George, UT, Shayleen (Lon) Dalley, Korindi (Doug) Totten, both of Logandale, NV; 21 grandchildren who will miss their Grandpa; mother: Irene; two sisters: Toni Lee Gunderson, JoAnn Caldwell all of Salt Lake City, UT. He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle and his sweetheart, Connie on July 4, 2005.

Funeral services will be held at the Logandale, Nevada LDS Stake Center on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be held in the Logandale cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.
