Reason 1. He has allowed himself to become manipulated by party dogma rather than stand by the convictions of a majority of Nevadans who elected him. We are not talking about a dead-heat political race with Sharron Angle. We are talking about the poll showing seventy percent of Nevadans do not like Harry Reid.
Reason 2. The election of super majorities of Democrats to both houses has created opportunities for legislators to enact laws that fit the Obama ideology, i.e. shove the Constitution out of the way and implement programs dear to the European models of socialism. We have noted that Harry Reid has used his position of Senate power to help enact these detrimental programs.
Reason 3. American citizens have rejected the enactment of Obama-care, the $787 billion stimulus package, out of control government spending, huge deficits, so-called financial reform, government take-over of banks, General Motors, etc., yet Harry Reid and other legislators, including two of our Congressional Representatives, have rammed such legislation through, despite the objections of a majority of American citizens. This represents a disconnect between Americans and elected representatives. For Senator Reid and others to ignore the wishes of the people smacks of elitism and tends toward creating a ruling class who think they know better than the American people.
Reason 4. Senator Reid occupies a position as Majority Leader of the Senate; subsequently he is obligated to carry the water for the Obama agenda; otherwise he would lose his position as Majority Leader. The Obama agenda is problematic: it supports big government, big spending, big regulations, and big taxes, all political philosophies counterproductive to a nation deep into a serious recession.
Reason 5. Senator Reid and his ilk are passing laws and making rules containing thousands of pages of legalese, which the legislators say they did not read. Nancy Pelosi herself said Congress needed to pass Obama-care in order to know what the bill contains. The same references can be made to the financial reform bill. Both bills were heavily supported and passed through tactics practiced by Senator Reid.
Reason 6. The $787 billion stimulus package (which failed to stimulate) helped to put the federal government in deficit of over a trillion dollars. Our national debt now is so huge (trillions of dollars) that economists say we will never be able to pay it off if we don’t begin to practice sound fiscal policies, cut back spending, and balance the federal budget. Harry Reid in his position of influence has not attempted to practice these sound policies. We are squandering the future of our children and grandchildren. The day will come when we must pay back money borrowed from foreign nations, perhaps forcing us to give up Anwar or the Gulf, maybe even our national parks. We cannot spend ourselves rich, but we can spend ourselves into oblivion.
What is this leading to?
1. The undermining of core American traditions and beliefs, i.e. the shredding of the Second Amendment, taxes to pay for abortions, legalizing gay marriage, sex education in kindergarten, and pro “God out of government.”
2. Large increase in new taxes, a huge rise in energy prices if Cap and Trade passes the Senate, student loans under the control of the Federal Government, health insurance premiums to double or even triple: all signs of socialistic encroachment, all policies senator Reid supports.
3. Failing to properly police our borders, undermining of the free market system, installing of czars and bureaucrats that bypass the U.S. Congress, forcing states to sue the federal Government to protect our borders, and a beginning of government takeover of the health industry.
4. The destruction of capitalism.
The legislative actions of the past nineteen months under the Obama administration contain provisions that will or may lead to socialism. Harry Reid has been instrumental in supporting and/or passing legislation that will, in my opinion, undermine the political, moral, and social fabric of this country.
Why I support Sharron Angle.
Reason 1. She favors conservative values of less government, balanced budgets, limited spending, and fewer regulations, regulations that stifle business creativity, inhibit jobs and interfere with a free market.
Reason 2. She believes we should utilize the energy sources found within the boundaries of the United States.
Reason 3. She wants to make Social Security and Medicare solvent.
Reason 4. She wants to lower taxes and build a climate favorable to small businesses, businesses that create over seventy percent of our nation’s jobs.
Reason 5. She wants to give power that has been usurped by the Obama administration back to the states.
Reason 6. She wants to secure our borders.
Reason 7. She represents a fresh face, one not acclimated to the Washington D.C. culture.
We cannot continue the present trends of federal encroachment upon the rights of the states and the individual. If such trends continue, I shudder to think of the consequences.
