Moapa Valley Progress
Boulder City came into Moapa knowing that, if they lost their season would be over. Boulder had already been beaten by Virgin Valley 29-0 earlier in the season. But with the annual black out homecoming game and an over-packed Jeff Keel Stadium, Boulder had slim chance of coming out alive.
Moapa beat Boulder City 42-6, and will carry the momentum into Virgin Valley’s Dawg Pound this week. The winner of next weeks game hosts game two the following week.
The Pirates’ first score came by Weiss’ five yard run. Way through the first quarter. The extra point was blocked and Moapa lead 6-0 after the 1st.
In the 2nd period Moapa scored twice. The first was when Casen Lewis took the ball around the left end 31 yards into the end zone.
Zach Waite scored his first on an eight yard run. His second score came in the third period, he scored from five yards out.
Boulder City’s, Woodbury took the kick off a 96 yard sprint where he went up the middle then to the end zone.
The Pirates’ final score came in the fourth quarter. Boulder City’s quarter back, Shelley, threw an interception to Riley Solomon who took the ball 99 yards for the final score 42-6.
Now here is the playoff situation. In the North, #1 Truckee gets the loss of Dayton and Fernley next week. #2 Elko gets the winner of Dayton and Fernley. #3 Spring Creek gets Lowry. If Spring Creek beats Elko, Lowry goes to Spring Creek. A Spring Creek loss and Lowry win gives Lowry the home game.
In the South, the winner in the Moapa-Virgin Valley game, hosts game two. The winner of game two hosts the lowest seed from the north. That winner plays the highest seed left from the north in the state championship game at Arborview High School.
Next week at Virgin Valley the Moapa parking lot is the lower lot. We are asked to be there at 6:30 to help the admission time into the Pound.
