Friends and neighbors of local boy Jake Pearce gathered together on Saturday, November 13 at the Old Logandale School for a Dinner and Auction fundraiser to benefit Pearce, who was injured in a car accident in August. A team of friends lead by Judy Metz and Jana Ward organized the event to help pay for Pearce’s medical costs.

Over 250 people came for the dinner, provided by Sugar’s Restaurant and a host of other volunteers. A silent auction, raffle, and a live auction were also held during the evening.

“I’m amazed at how many people wanted to help,” Jana Ward stated. “It seems like everyone donated something, either something for the auction or raffle, or just donated money.”

The old school was stuffed with tables for diners, auction items, sales of dinner tickets, raffle tickets, or Jake Bracelets.

Among the items to be raffled there was a 32” television. Other items in the raffle or auction included sporting goods, jewelry, antique glassware, bales of hay, cases of pomegranates, original artwork, and much more.

One of the most coveted live auction items was the xBox 360 Kinect, just released last week and donated by Microsoft. Another fun auction item was made into a competition. Many of the local business took the Jake beads and made necklaces which were then supplemented with bracelets and earrings. The team whose set sold at the live auction for the most amount of money won a $50 gift certificate to Sugar’s. Overton Power ended up with the prize.

Pearce is currently being treated at Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Craig Hospital specializes in spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation. Pearce is learning how to navigate the changes in his life.

Friends and family are working on other fundraisers to help pay for Pearce’s rehabilitation. One idea that will soon come to fruition is a benefit concert held in Pearce’s honor.
