Moapa Valley Progress
Truckee did as expected and pounded Elko 55-7. Truckee had 535 total yards offense in the game. The Wolverines held the Indians to 107 total yards offense.
Ben Bolton was 11 of 14 for 261 yards passing and 5 touchdowns. Colin Christian had 76 rushing yards and two total touchdowns. Truckee’s well balanced offense will mean Moapa will have to play their best and hope for turnovers to win it.
The win sends the Wolverines to a much anticipated matchup against Moapa for the state championship. Truckee and Moapa have played against each other for the title for the past two years. Moapa won in 2008 with a score of 33-14. Truckee shut out Moapa last year in Reno, 27-0.
This is becoming the ultimate rivalry and it looks to continue. Truckee’s J.V. was undefeated while Moapa’s J.V. losses came to Utah schools.
Moapa played a very tough schedule this year as they have every year. Desert Hills made it to the quarter-finals while Hurricane will play Juan Diego in the Utah 3A state championship game Friday at the University of Utah’s Rice Ecceles Stadium. Green Valley and Silverado each were in the Nevada 4A playoffs.
The Championship game will be at 6 p.m. at Arbor View High School. You need to be there by 5 p.m. because there is always a pile up at the entrance. Wear your blue and gold. Paint the town up in blue and gold and show up en masse to help carry the Pirates to the title!
