Cappalappa Family Resource Center will hold an open house to formally introduce the community to its new location at 183 N. Moapa Valley Boulevard in downtown Overton. Due to the grant monies received from Clark County, the CFRC believes they will be able to stay in this location for quite some time.
The new building is quite large, which allows the CFRC to provide not only office space for its staff, but also private space to assist clients with more private matters, such as welfare or energy assistance.
The CFRC offers a variety of services to individuals and families in the valley. One of the most fun is the preschool class that is provided free of charge every Monday – Wednesday. The goal of the class is not only to teach the children, but also to teach the parents to teach the children.
The CFRC also offers Application Assistance for State programs such as NV Check-up, Energy Assistance, and Welfare. CFRC will help determine qualification for any of these programs, and help fill out the forms.
Among the many other programs the CFRC offers are Back to School Supply Assistance, Basic Living Resources, Holiday Assistance, and a Food Bank.
The Open House will be held on Friday, January 28, from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. Staff will be giving tours of the facilities, answering questions, and providing refreshments.
Director Penny Vallone is excited to be serving the community from the new location. “This is a nice place for us to call home, and we’re really happy to be here!” she said.
