LETTER: Is This the Change You Were Hoping For?

I realize these people were voted into power. That’s actually a big part of the problem, in my view. Are we really a population, now, who are this inept? This unable to tell the good apart from the cunning and the crafty? This ill-equipped to recognize a snow-job, even after the drifts have begun to form up around our hind-quarters and nether-regions?

I’m told that I’m too white, too female, too blonde, too uneducated, etc., to know what’s best for me. We are all told now that these new mandates on private industry are for the advancement of our “society”, and we “don’t know the subject or the problem well enough.”

The new Banking and Wall Street Rules were put forth instead of saying “You’re really not any good at managing your own business affairs, so we’re forcing you into this other mold. Now hold still. This will only hurt for about 48 years or so.”

Plus, we don’t know how to feed ourselves. Goodness no. So they’ve taken the “trans fats” off the market. Also, beginning in New York City, restaurants can only use “so much” salt. And no shakers on the tables. Plus, you may NOT read the labels and decide on your own how much fat you would enjoy having today. Even McDonalds is mandated to serve apple slices and milk, etc. These are blatant examples of the way certain government factions micro-manage the food industry.

If these things weren’t bad enough, our illustrious First Lady has decided parents and those who run local school lunch programs are far too stupid to know what should be fed to children. And actually said out loud, “These decisions can’t be left up to parents.” No, honey. You do not know how to feed your own child. And shame on you for thinking you did.

Now, this heresy has spread to Wal-Mart food products, and the prices attached to them! Supply and demand be damned!

Perhaps that’s why I could never be a Democrat. I shall not be managed. Thank you. But no. I require no supervision nor scripting.

If there’s a food item on the market, that I eat and it goes bad on me, it’s up to me to not buy it again, ‘til enough of us fail to buy it, and that company goes out of business. Problem solved. No government meddling required.

I don’t need Washington DC’s concerns talking down at me. Telling me how much salt, sugar, fat, fillers, preservatives, etc., that I should be eating. It’s not in their purview, and continuing to tell me they need more and more of my money, so they can micro-manage more of my life, is unreasonable and unconstitutional.

That’s enough for now.
