The 10th annual Kendall Tenney’s Run for a Wish benefitting the local Southern Nevada Chapter of Make A Wish foundation took place at Town Square in Las Vegas on Saturday February 5th. Team Moapa Valley had a great presence with 90 participants. This turnout made the local team the fourth largest team at the event from a regional field of over 220 teams.
There were approximately 5,500 participants in all that either walked or ran the 5K. A total of $255,000 was raised at the event to grant wishes to local children who suffer from life threatening illnesses. It was a beautiful day and all who participated had a great time, said Natalie Jacobsmeyer, captain of Team Moapa Valley.
The local team was able to raise $1,800 at the event.
“I want to thank everyone who participated,” Jacobsmeyer said. “We also appreciate all the donations that were raised in front of Overton Lin’s Marketplace on the Saturday before the event.”
Jacobmeyer reported that five Moapa Valley kids have benefited from the Make A Wish foundation in the past.
“There will likely be more in the future,” she said. “Two of the wish kids were with us on Saturday at the event: Mandy May and Jenni Jacobsmeyer.”
The Run For A Wish event takes place every year on the day before the Super Bowl.
“All are encouraged to join with the local team next year,” Jacobsmeyer said.
