What Are You Entering At The Fair?

By Catherine Ellerton

Moapa Valley Progress

The pieces of the CC Fair and Rodeo puzzle are slowly coming together. Committees have been formed and are beginning the long hours of perfecting their projects. Gardens have been planted, flowers and bushes pruned and cactus nourished by spring rain. Sewing projects are underway, ceramics are being cleaned and painted, photographs analyzed and categorized and fine arts projects are being scrutinized. Rabbits, chickens, goats, sheep, horses and cows are being trained and maintained. The time is coming. So I went forth and asked that important question – What are you doing for the CC Fair?

JanaLee Weatherford is a Junior at MVHS who hopes to match her Judges Award and 2nd Best of Class Awards in Fine Arts of last year with her ceramic entry this year. She is busily putting the finishing touches on a miniature Grand Piano music box which plays “Amazing Grace.”

Kelly Bledsoe Local Massage Therapist, enjoys entering her ceramics and crotchet works in the County Fair. She and her husband, Paul, have a new hobby of wine making and will, once again, enter one of the bottles of fine wine from the “Vista View Vintners.”

Patty Knotek has taken part in the fair for over 18 years. She fires her own ceramics and those of her friends whom she enjoys helping – with the promise that they will also enter their creations in the fair each year.

Mary Perkins Has been entering her crotchet work for about 15 years and is still going strong. She is currently creating another afghan to enter. She is 91 years young and says her involvement in Yoga and the community make all the difference.

Tom Gamaleri Has been active in the CC Fair and Rodeo for almost two dozen years as a member of the Volunteer Emergency Crew. He is looking forward to being a positive part of the 2011 fair.

Elaine Danley Has entered quilts, aprons and other crafts for years and plans to continue that tradition.
