LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Food for thought – a look at your world.

We are so lucky to have a government that looks out for us so well.

Take for instance when you buy a car from a dealership. Who pays the tax, you or the dealers? Who makes the profit, so why do you pay the tax? Why do you pay tax on things that are a necessary, bees, ants, beasts of burden.

What happened to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Do you really have any impact to what goes on around you? We the people are the government so why don’t we have a say?

Vote, you say? That’s like going to a cafeteria and you only get what they offer you, so why can’t we write the menu?

Why is it that it costs so much to run for office? Is that because only people with money and influence are smart enough to pick our leaders? I seem to remember when you had to be a land owner to vote, then white men could vote, then black men could vote, then women could. But who could they vote for, only what landowners put before them.

I say to you my fellow country persons, yes that means men and women alike, it is high time we the people who bear the burden should be entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Do you remember way back when one parent worked and the other worked at home, household engineer? I believe children were well behaved. What happens when you are too afraid to stand up for that freedom, then you don’t deserve it.

We have laws, why don’t we enforce them? Why would anyone hire a person without proper proof of the right to work in this country? The only reason I can think of is to save money on employment cost. This affects social security, medicare and medicaid, unemployment all that the laborer depends on. I think that a fine for breaking this law is not enough. I think anyone that allows this to happen is guilty of crimes on the scale of Bernie Madoff, and should suffer the same fate.

Yes we are a nation of laws and we should enforce them, and punish those that don’t live up to their oath of office. Because if you break that oath you are guilty of crimes against the government, yes we the people.
