Local Artist Wins Award At Virgin Valley Spring Art Show

Overton artist Janet Trobough won a blue ribbon award for this painting at the Virgin Valley Spring Art Show
Overton resident Janet Trobough won a first place blue ribbon prize in the Virgin Valley Spring Art Show. Awards for the show were announced at a public reception held at the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery on Saturday, March 12.
Trobough entered her prize-winning painting in the “Art by Poetry” division of the show. In this division, artists were required to create an artistic interpretation of a poem which they had chosen from original poems submitted in the show’s Poetry category.
Trobough chose a poem submitted by local poet Colin A. Warren entitled “Textured You”.
Trobough also entered a “Artists Choice” category entry into the show entitled “Sacred Datura” and won a second place award for the work.
The annual Virgin Valley Spring Art Show is open to all artists who reside in Nevada, Arizona or Utah.
Trobough is a member of the Moapa Valley Art Guild.
All Gallery visitors are invited to name an additional winner by voting for their favorite work in each category. A “People’s Choice” ribbon will be awarded on March 25 when votes are tallied.
