When you are dealing with chickens, peacocks, turkeys, snakes, guinea pigs, pot bellied pigs and gardens, one of the greatest challenges is to get everyone on the same page at the same time.
Meeting this challenge are Small Animals Barn Superintendent Kaluna Aki and his wife Jenifer as well as at least 20 other volunteers manning the booths plus the many youth volunteers helping in the 4-H and Open Class exhibits during the Clark County Fair and Rodeo.
These exhibits are housed in the Agriculture Building which is more commonly known as the Small Animal Barn. It is here that the 4-H and Open Class small animals are brought, judged and exhibited. These animals, including the rabbits, will be on display in the showmanship classes.
In addition, the Farm Bureau and the Dairy and Beef Councils will be on site to present up-to-date information and to sponsor games for youths to learn gardening and farming techniques.
Enhancing these games there will be a garden sponsored by Quail Hollow Garden of Overton plus an interactive garden for the young fairgoer to experience finding the magic held within the depths of a garden.
There will be face painting and butter carving, pigs and piglets, dairy cows and miniature cows, stick horses, paper hats and, the ever popular, Chicken Bingo.
For those wishing to enter their animals in the available classes, Aki urges that they must pre-register by April 1 to be sure that cages will be available. These holding cages must be supplied by the fair. To register the participant can go on-line or go to Home Hardware in Overton.
