LETTER: A Bike Lane Would Be Great

In last week’s issue of the Progress the question was posed of what to do with the road (Preliminary Paving Nears Completion: Progress, March 16, 2011). As a road biker and runner I would love to see the road paved shoulder to shoulder. I think it would be great to have the road divided in the middle providing extra space on each side designated for a bike path. Paint some bike path lanes like on Whipple Avenue so that cars won’t get confused and use it as a travel lane. I see many bicycles, baby joggers and runners on the sides of our roads who I’m sure would agree of how wonderful it would be.

A bike lane would be great. No I think we should demand a bike lane and join the 21st century. More people than ever are riding bikes and we’ve been lucky that there hasn’t been an accident yet. I have ridden a lot along the Boulevard but felt like my luck was wearing out after too many close calls. Those that ride know what I mean. Those that don’t,I dare you to ride from Linn’s to Walley’s and see if you don’t fear for your life.
