LETTER: Grateful to Live In Overton
Once more I’m grateful to be living in Overton!
Being the “brilliant” woman I am, I carry ‘everything’ in a large purse I have. I carry the purse over my shoulder when I’m shopping and over the handle of the grocery basket as I ‘stroll’ through Lin’s grocery store.
This week I did my shopping. My husband and I then drove up to the Post Office and, right, I’d left my Post Office key and ‘everything’ else in my purse hanging on my grocery cart!
We immediately turned and headed back to Lin’s with hearts beating fast, hopes high, but teary and worried. My husband didn’t remember where we had parked and he stopped the car to ask me where it was. Luckily it was at the end of the row we did park.
Rather than wait for him to adjust, I jumped out and ran toward the rack that I prayed would contain my purse. As I feverishly prayed and ran (ole folk don’t do that too well ya know), I saw a young man with my purse heading to the store to return it!
I was so darned excited, weepy and thoughtless, that I didn’t ask his name so I am using the only venue I know to thank him.
Thank you young man! You (and your type of ‘leadership’) is one of the reasons we continue to love Overton.
God Bless you.
Ruth Cragun.
